In this article you will learn how to create inventory items in Manager.io step by step with images.
If you have enabled Inventory items in Customize click on it.
Click on New Inventory Item to create a new item.
A new page will open with different fields and options to create the item. Only, the Item name is the required field, others are optional.
Item code: This field is optional. Using item codes largely depends on a business's conventions and principals. If your company has a coding schema for items, then use it in this field.
Item name: Enter your item in name in this field. You cannot leave this field blank, Manager.io will not let you create your item while this field is blank.
Unit name: Write your item's unit name here.
Starting balance: You can enter your item's starting balance and its average cost in the fields shown below. Do this only if you are migrating from another accounting system. If you are starting a new business, leave these fields empty. Add more line(s) if you have multiple instances of the same item.
Custom income account: Activate this option and define a different account if you want to track this item's income separately. Otherwise, leave this option empty.
Custom expense account: Just like custom income account, activate this option and define a custom account for the expenses of this item if you want it to be shown separately from other items.
Autofill line - description: This description will only appear in Inventory items' page where all of your items will be listed.
Autofill - Purchases - Unit price: Activate this option and set a default purchase unit price if the item's purchase price doesn't change a lot. You can change this price when creating purchase invoice or cash purchase.
Autofill - Sales - Unit price: Use this option if you have fixed sale price. Even if you set a sale unit price here, you can change it while creating a cash sale or a sales invoice.
Autofill - Sales -Division: If you have created divisions you can select it here for the item.
Autofill - Tax code: You can select tax code(s) to be filled automatically when this item is selected from this field.
Hide item name on printed documents: Activate this option if you don't want your item name to be printed on documents.
Image: You can only see your attached image if you open the item in edit mode, so it's better not attaching one. Still, if you added an image it will be shown in this field.
Create: After completing the necessary fields you can click on Create to save your item.
When you click on Create a summary of newly created item will be presented to you.
Create & add another: Click on Create & add another to save the current item and another one instantly.
I created another item just by filling the name and the unit name fields.
Now my Inventory items' page would look like this.
Inactive: This option will appear after you created the item. Use this option for items that you do not want to appear among your active items.
Edit: You can edit an item after it is created. You can change every thing about an item when you open it for edit.
Delete: You can only delete an item if it has no transactions associated with it. Instead, you can use inactive option to make an item invisible.
In summary, creating inventory items in Manager.io would only require you to enter a name for the item and a unit of measurement. But, other fields and options will help you in your business and save you a lot of time.
